SUNNY BEACH
Sunny Beach is the biggest resort on the Bulgarian coastline stretching approximately 7 km. with natural golden sand and dunes equipped with sun beds and parasols. The promenade stretches over the coast at of Sunny Beach with an abundance of shops and bars.
The resort is a bearer of the prestigious BLUE FLAG prize for proven ecological advantages along the Black Sea coast. This is one of the few places along the Black Sea coast where one can still see genuine self- formed sand dunes - the most beautiful ones are situated in the resort's southern part. The Sunny Beach summer resort is perched 36 km north of Bourgas city and about 95 km to the South of Varna. The resort is naturally set in a large bay, protected by the slopes of the Balkan Mountain to the North and its beach reaches as far as Nessebar to the south.
Sunny Beach is the biggest Bulgarian sea resort. Its construction began in 1958 and today it offers more than 350 modern hotels. The resort is rich in entertainment and leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, surfboard rentals, crazy golf alleys, tennis courts, cycling paths, archery ranges, water skiing facilities and much more. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe, well known with its exotic monuments the Antiquity, its fascinating architecture of the Middle Ages and the National Revival period. The town is situated on a small rocky peninsula in the North part of the Bourgas bay.
In 1956 Nesebar was proclaimed an archaeological and architectural reserve and in 1983 the cultural monuments of the town were included in the list of UNESCO.
The area of Nesebar is about 25 ha. It is linked with the new part of the town by a narrow 300 metres long strip. The beach, based in the new part, is 4 km long..
